What I like about Dreamweaver

by DanB

I use Dreamweaver quite a bit but I also use Gvim for much of my web editing. The two key features I keep Dreamweaver around for are the Search and Replace and the FTP.

The FTP is slick. You upload or download an HTML file and it also copies the images, javascripts, css, include files, and anything else the file needs to display correctly. And it creates all the directories necessary at the same time. Super useful.

The Search and Replace knows the difference between HTML code and regular text. So you can replace “red” with “blue” only in tags for instance while leaving the word red in your text alone. It can operate against an entire directory and subdirectory in one sweep.
