Hi,

I'd just like to follow up to the recommendation of AVG as a substitute for Norton (IMHO forget substitution, you'd be better off relying on intuition than one of Norton's bloatware delights)

Anyhow, personally I'm none too fond of AVG, delightful as it is for being a free anti-virus solution, it's too slow and clumsy for my liking. I'd like to promote Avast! - it's another free solution. They give away free 18month keys to any home user who asks for them, and in all the comparative reviews I've read it performs extremely well in comparison to most of the paid-for solutions.

Give it a look if you want decent AV protection that doesn't cost the earth. It's neither expensive on resources nor finances. In fact it's totally free on the latter :)

It bugs me that everyone promotes AVG, just because it was the first. In my opinion it is now rather dated and in terms of performance and user friendliness is totally beaten by Avast.

Have a look: http://www.avast.com

Folks,

Norton's has long be prone to 'flag' legitimate files as a virus, trojan, spyware etc., not to mention the heavy payload Norton's put on a Windoze machine. Norton's and Windoze has never co-existed without conflicts.

Switch to AVG! It's FREE, with FREE updates and it doesn't 'bog' down your PC!!

Get it HERE!
